In Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced you can equip Edward Kenway with numerous outfits. Unlike the original Black Flag, the outfits in Resynced no longer come with any gameplay bonuses. They only change Edward’s appearance. The total count depends on whether you include pre-order bonuses, Deluxe content, Helix Store packs, and outfits that haven’t yet been clearly categorized. In the overview below, I clearly separate outfits you can earn through regular play from paid additional content.
For most outfits, however, normal game progress isn’t enough. Some are found in large chests or buried treasure, others require rare animal materials, completed side activities, or progress in the various Animus Projects.

Unlocking Story Outfits Automatically
Three outfits are handed to you directly through the main story. You can’t miss them, and you don’t need to spend real money or complete any side activities to get them.
- Duncan Walpole’s Robes: This outfit is already available during the Havana intro at the start of the game.
- Edward Kenway’s Robes: Edward’s regular clothing becomes available early in the main story, after he adjusts the original Assassin robe.
- Foreign Diplomat Disguise: You get the red diplomat outfit in Sequence 12 during the main mission “A Governor No Longer.” Once you complete the mission, it stays permanently available as an outfit.
All Chest Outfits and Locations
Five outfits are found in large chests across various islands. For Captain Drake’s Outfit, the chest isn’t directly on land but in the water off the northeast coast of Sacrifice Island. A previously activated synchronization point makes it easier to find your way there.

For Captain Drake’s Outfit, some sources alternatively list the coordinates 18, 547. Both lead to the same area off the northeast coast of Sacrifice Island. Search in the water there, not just on the beach. I’d pick up the chest outfits along the way whenever you’re already on the respective island. That saves you extra fast travel later on.
Brown Cloak in Havana
You’ll find the Brown Cloak in the Governor’s Mansion in the southeast of Havana. The large chest is located at approximately 204, 573.
Captain Drake’s Outfit off Sacrifice Island
Captain Drake’s Outfit is in an underwater chest off the northeast coast of Sacrifice Island at approximately 23, 552. A previously activated synchronization point makes it easier to navigate to the spot. The chest isn’t on the beach but a few meters offshore, underwater. That’s exactly why this outfit is easy to miss.
Stede Bonnet’s Attire on Mystery Island
Stede Bonnet’s Attire is on Mystery Island in a large chest on the eastern hill at approximately 913, 123.
Captain Morgan’s Redingote on Black Island
You’ll find Captain Morgan’s Redingote on Black Island, northeast of Gibara. The large chest is located in the northern hills of the island at approximately 914, 618.
Officer’s Outfit on Principe Island
The Officer’s Outfit is on Principe Island in a large chest at approximately 116, 11.
Finding the Explorer Outfit
You get the Explorer Outfit from a hidden underwater chest at approximately 28, 292. This also unlocks the Aveline Figurehead for the Jackdaw.
All Treasure Map Outfits and Burial Sites
For these outfits, you first need to find the corresponding treasure map and then dig up the marked burial site. The overview below shows you both where to find the map and where the associated treasure is buried.

Pirate Captain Outfit on Ambergris Key
You’ll find the treasure map at the campfire on the northeast beach of Corozal, west of Chinchorro, at approximately 31, 230. It leads you to Ambergris Key, where you need to dig up the treasure at approximately 30, 157.
Crimson Cloak in Anotto Bay
The treasure map for the Crimson Cloak is in the warehouse in the northwest of Havana at approximately 205, 600. The associated burial site is in Anotto Bay, in the area around approximately 590, 245 to 255.
Governor’s Outfit on Isla Providencia
You get the treasure map in the warehouse in the south of Nassau at approximately 594, 750. The treasure is on the south beach of Isla Providencia, by the shipwrecks, in the area around approximately 487, 11.
You only reach Isla Providencia later in the game. If the island isn’t available to you yet, you’ll first need to progress further in the main story.
Haytham Kenway’s Overcoat
For Haytham Kenway’s Overcoat, you need to collect all eleven portraits and hang them in Edward’s Manor. Once the full set is hanging in the manor, the outfit unlocks automatically.
Shade and Shadow Robes
For the Shade and Shadow Robes, you first need to collect all four Preserved Map Pieces by raiding warehouses. Then have the map restored at the Treasure Dealer and dig up the treasure on Sacrifice Island at approximately 14, 554. You’ll also get the Wooden Eyeball Trinket in the process.
Buying All Outfits at the General Store
Four outfits are sold through the General Store. The Pirate Cloak becomes available after completing the main mission “This Old Cove”
. The Merchant Outfit, Politician’s Outfit, and Privateer Outfit appear after the Sequence 4 mission “Overrun and Outnumbered.”

For all four merchant outfits combined, you’ll need 9,600 Reales. No additional materials or side activities are required.
Crafting All Outfits at the Treasure Dealer
You get the three crafting outfits from the Treasure Dealer on Great Inagua. After completing “This Old Cove,” you can build the building and trade the required animal materials there for the respective outfits.

For the Feline Pelt Outfit, pay close attention to the different jaguar pelts. Regular, white, and black jaguar pelts count as separate materials and can’t be substituted for one another. I generally wouldn’t sell rare animal materials. The various jaguar pelts in particular can’t be replaced later with a different pelt type.
Unlocking Quest and Collection Outfits
Several outfits are tied to longer side activities, collections, or fully upgrading Great Inagua. These include Assassin Contracts, Mayan Stones, Templar Hunts, artworks, and special treasure maps.
Unlocking the Hunter Outfit
For the Hunter Outfit, you need to skin the white jaguar on Great Inagua twice. This gives you two Digested Map Pieces. Then have the treasure map restored at the Treasure Dealer and dig up the treasure south of Santanillas at approximately 188, 215. As an additional reward, you’ll also get the Hunter’s Amulet.
Unlocking the Stealth Outfit via Assassin Contracts
For the Stealth Outfit, you need to complete a total of 16 Assassin Contracts. You’ll also get the legendary trinket Hidden Ones Sigil along the way. Completing all available contracts also rewards you with the Spring-Steel Swords. If you’re planning to complete all side activities anyway, I’d start on the Assassin Contracts as early as possible. That way you won’t have to catch up on all of them at the end of the game. In Resynced, the Stealth Outfit unlocks after completing all 16 Assassin Contracts.
Getting the Mayan Armour with All Mayan Stones
For the Mayan Armour, you need to find all 16 Mayan Stones. Once the set is complete, you can use it to open the locked door in Tulum and collect the armor behind it.
Unlocking the Templar Armour via All Templar Hunts
The Templar Hunts become available after the Sequence 3 mission “A Single Madman.” Complete all four hunt chains and collect the associated keys.
Then use the complete set of keys at the locked gate by Edward’s Manor on Great Inagua. The Templar Armour is behind it.
Unlocking the Master Assassin Outfit via “Art Lover”
The regularly unlockable Master Assassin Outfit is the reward for the side quest “Art Lover.” For this, you need to collect various artworks. Paintings come from warehouses, ship models from boarded ships, and sculptures from chests or merchants.
Don’t confuse this outfit with the Master Assassin’s Robes. The latter belongs to the Deluxe Edition or the separately available Master Assassin Character Pack and can’t be unlocked via “Art Lover.”
Unlocking Edward the Legend via Great Inagua
For the Edward the Legend outfit, you need to fully restore Great Inagua. This includes every upgradable building as well as the manor. Then complete the side quest “Former Glories” to unlock the outfit. This is one of the most time-consuming outfits in the game. If you don’t need the outfit right away, I’d plan the full upgrade of Great Inagua for later in the game instead. It requires a lot of Reales and materials.
Unlocking All Animus Project Outfits
The Animus outfits don’t depend on your normal progress in the Caribbean. Instead of missions, Reales, or animal materials, you need progress in the respective Animus Projects or Animus Keys for the Animus Exchange.

The Nomad’s Bronze Ensemble doesn’t cost real money and doesn’t require progress in any Animus Project. You do, however, need to claim it yourself in the in-game store.
All Pre-Order, Deluxe, and Purchasable Outfits
You can’t unlock the following five outfits through regular story missions, locations, or side activities. They belong to pre-order bonuses, the Deluxe Edition, or separately sold Character Packs.

Blackbeard’s Crimson Outfit as a Pre-Order Bonus
The Blackbeard’s Crimson Outfit belongs to the Blackbeard’s Crimson Pack. The pre-order pack also includes Blackbeard’s sword and pistol. The outfit can’t be unlocked through regular game progress.
Getting the Master Assassin’s Robes via the Deluxe Edition
The Master Assassin’s Robes are included in the Deluxe Edition. Alternatively, you can get them through the separately sold Master Assassin Character Pack, which also includes a sword, a pistol, and a trinket.
The near-identical name can easily cause confusion: the Master Assassin Outfit from the side quest “Art Lover” is a different outfit and can be unlocked without buying any DLC.
Buying Dragonscale Armor, Hellion Armor, and Stormfury Shroud
These three outfits are only available through separate Character Packs in the Helix Store. Each pack costs about €9.99.

Which Outfits Are Available Without Real Money?
You can unlock most outfits completely without spending real money. Only Blackbeard’s Crimson Outfit, the Master Assassin’s Robes, and the three Helix Store outfits are reserved for paid additional content. So if you just want to collect all the regular outfits, you don’t need to spend any extra money.
