Assassin’s Creed Shadows – All Shrine Locations & Rewards (Shrine Guide)

Assassin’s Creed Shadows shrine guide showing all shrine locations, solutions, and rewards by region.
All shrine locations and rewards in Assassin’s Creed Shadows – including hidden areas and puzzle tips.

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, shrines are far more than just optional gathering destinations – they serve as secret locations of ancient energy sources that permanently improve your stamina, Ki and relic abilities. Many players overlook them, as they are often hidden in hard-to-reach regions or behind complex puzzles. In this comprehensive guide, we show you all the shrine locations, puzzle solutions and rewards – sorted by region.

Spoiler warning: Some shrines only become accessible after completing certain main quests or side missions. If you want to explore the world yourself, read the guide section by section.

Kyoto – Shrines of the capital

Kyoto is the first major region in which you can discover shrines. Many can be found at temples and watercourses – here you will learn the basic mechanics of the shrine puzzles.

  • 1st Shrine of the Morning Dew – Northeast of the Kiyomizu Temple. Activate three water lanterns to open the entrance. Reward: +10% Ki regeneration.
  • 2nd Flame Lotus Shrine – Behind a bamboo garden in the Gion district. Use fire arrows to clear the blockade. Reward: “Flame of Yamato” relic fragment.
  • 3rd Dragon Gate Shrine – Below the bridge on the Silver River. You must use Naoe’s grappling hook. Reward: +1 relic slot.
  • 4th Shrine of the Silent Blossom – In the west, behind a hidden waterfall. Reward: permanent stamina bonus +5%.

Awaji Island – Shrines of the Wind

Awaji is known for its windswept coasts and cliff paths. The shrines here are more dangerous, often with platform puzzles or waves of enemies.

  • 1st Shrine of the Four Winds – On the southern cliff, only accessible with Yasuke. Solve the wind wheel puzzle to open the door. Reward: “Wind Blade” relic.
  • 2nd Cliff Shrine – Between two bamboo bridges in the east. Use gusts of wind to activate platforms. Reward: +10% fall damage reduction.
  • 3rd Fisherman’s Shrine – In the village of Sumoto, near the harbor. Requires completion of the side quest “The Lost Amulet”. Reward: 500 Ryo + Relic Fragment.

Iga Province – Shrines of Shadows

This region is characterized by old ninja clans and secret tunnels. Shrines here are often hidden deep underground or in ruins.

  • 1st Shrine of the Moon Mist – In the old ninja training camp, reached after completing the quest “Legacy of Iga”. Reward: +1 relic ability.
  • 2nd Shrine of the Broken Blade – In the northwestern cave system, guarded by elite enemies. Reward: +15% damage on stealth kills.

Yamashiro – Shrines of Fire

Yamashiro marks the middle game segment. Here, combat challenges are combined with environmental traps.

  • 1st Shrine of the Burning Path – In a burning village, you must avoid firebombs. Reward: +20% resistance to fire damage.
  • 2nd Blood Red Shrine – At the edge of Tsubaki Fortress, only accessible at night. Reward: “Shadow Flame” relic.
  • 3rd Oni Shrine – Enter the shrine after a duel with an Oni Ghost. Reward: +5% crit chance.

Omi & Endgame – Hidden Shrines (Spoiler)

Attention: Spoiler! These shrines are only available after completing the main story or in the “New Game+” phase. They contain powerful relics and rare materials.

  • 1st Shrine of the Sun and Moon – In the mountains north of Omi. Both characters must interact together. Reward: “Balance of Light” relic + permanent life bonus.
  • 2nd Shrine of Impermanence – In the Temple of Awaji, only after the side quest “Call of the Ancients”. Reward: “Eternal Shadow” relic (improves dodge window).
