With the 2018 action-adventure God of War, US developer SCE Santa Monica Studio breathed new life into the video game series and was able to convince both press and gamers with good graphics and fitting sound design. With God of War: Ragnarok, the sequel to the cult series was released in 2022 and can tie in well with its predecessor.
Some well-functioning game mechanics were adopted and further developed in the sequel. This includes, among other things, the choice of armor sets for protagonist Kratos and his son Atreus. In this short guide we will show you what is probably the best armor in the game and where you can find it.
This is the best armor in God of War Ragnarok
We are talking about the Steinbjörn armor, which has one of the highest defense values in the game. Once you put on the armor, you’ll notice the high armor value. This fills the bar to the maximum. In addition, you should also like the effect of Steinbjörn. If an enemy has dealt damage to you, your successful counterattacks will restore some life points.
Once you have put on all the pieces of the armor set, another beneficial effect is added. Leg armor and bracers increase the stun effect by 50%. With this, you’ll quickly send most opponents to the boards.
God of War Ragnarok: Find the Steinbjörn armor
In order to craft the Steinbjörn armor, you will need the third weapon of Kratos as well as access to the Lake of Nine. Once you have fulfilled these requirements, head to Tyr’s temple. Southwest of this you will find a rock accumulation, which is marked with a yellow crack. Behind the rocks you will find the relic “mystic heirloom”, which you can put on Kratos.

Location: Midgard
You can find one of the trolls near the relic. Past the forge, head to the abandoned outpost in the Lake of Nine where the troll can be found.
Place of discovery: Alfheim
To the west of the Forbidden Sands of Alfheim you will find another of the four trolls. Look there for a pile of corpses, there stands the troll just waiting to be awakened.
Location: Vanaheim
In Vanaheim you will find the last two trolls. Travel to Noatun’s garden and go ashore to the east. When fighting the beasts, note their element, one is made of fire and the other of ice.
