Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: How to delete the game state

You’ve just started playing Pokémon Scarlet or Violet and have chosen one of the three starters. Shortly after starting your adventure, however, you realize that you would have preferred to use a different starter Pokémon. Or you have completely different reasons to start the game again. We’ll show you how to do that below.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: How to start the game from scratch

To play the game Pokémon Scarlet & Violet from the beginning, you have two options. The most radical option is to delete the score. However, you won’t find an option for this in the main menu of the game itself. You need to reset the data in the menu of your Nintendo Switch. To do this, proceed as follows:

  • Navigate to the system settings via the gear icon while the game is closed.
  • Navigate to the subitem Data Management. Once here, select the „Clear Memory Data“ option and click on your respective edition „Pokémon Scarlet or „Pokémon Violet“. Finally, select the „Clear memory data for user name“ option.

Attention: The deleted memory state can no longer be restored. Therefore, you should think carefully and be quite sure that you want to start Pokémon from scratch.

However, there is another way to restart Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. To do this, create a second user on your handheld console. The saves of your games are not automatically transferred from the already existing user. This should also allow you to start the game with a new savegame.
