Pokémon Scarlet & Violet adventure games offer you many options and ways to expand your Pokémon collection. These include catching, developing with special items or swapping with other trainers. The latter is possible with trainers (NPCs), which are distributed throughout the open game world, or with the help of the online function with friends. Among the known Pokémon, there are also a few that evolve only through the swap function. One of them is the Ghost Haunter, which evolves into Gengar after the swap. In this guide we will show you how to get the pocket monster even without the online function.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: Catch an Haunter and evolve it

The GhostGengar is one of the most popular Pokémon for many players and can only be obtained by swapping with another trainer. His pre-evolution Haunter develops into Gengar only after successful swapping. First, you have to engage a wild Haunter in a fight and then catch it with a Pokéball. One site is located in the northeastern part of the Paldea region. It can be found in the area around Mesclores Passage or Schmierhein.

Haunter evolves into Gengar in Pokémon.

It should be noted that Haunter is a nocturnal Pokémon and, accordingly, only appears and can be found in the dark. Now all you have to do is trade this one online with another trainer for another Pokémon and it will evolve into Gengar.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: Get Gengar even without exchange

If you want to get the popular Pokémon without the online feature, that’s also possible for the first time in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. In the east of Paldea, in Fermanca City, there is an NPC trainer who wants to trade his Britzigel for an Haunter. You can find the small Britzigel among others in the southeast in the southern zone 5. After the swap, the development animation will start immediately and your new partner Haunter will develop into Gengar. If you want to have a specific gender of the pocket monster, save manually before swapping and reload the save. This only works if you have deactivated the auto-save function in the settings.
