In December 2022, the time finally came and developer Game Freak released Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, the new editions of the popular video game series. The tradition from the previous installments of the series will be demonstrated this time as well, and you’ll be able to get completely free Pokémon or items. You can get them by entering special secret codes or as part of certain promotions. In our overview below we show you how you can get the free gifts.

How to get secret gifts and redeem codes in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
In order to receive the secret gifts in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you need to have played for about an hour. Once you have progressed further in the story, you unlock the function.
To redeem the special codes, your Nintendo Switch must be connected to the Internet. However, a Nintendo Switch Online membership is not a prerequisite. To redeem the code, press the X button and navigate to the menu item “PokéPortal” and select “Secret Gift”. Within the following entry you can now receive the secret gift via the options “receive via internet” or “receive via serial code/password” . Moreover, you can select the “Check secret gifts” option there.
Receive via Internet: If you select this option, you will receive an overview of all the gifts that you can receive without entering a code. If you choose one of the gifts, you can receive it only once.
Receive by serial code/password: If you select this option, you can enter any gift code. If the entry worked and it is a non-expired code, you will download the free gift via your existing Internet connection.
