In the adventure, along with new Pokémon, of course, you can expect new starter companions. In this short guide, we’ll also go over the strengths and weaknesses of the starter Pokémon and try to help you with your choice of companion.
Which starter do I choose in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?
Choosing the starter Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet is sometimes not so easy for some fans of the series. Because the pocket monsters could not be more different: The appearance, their types and, consequently, the strengths and weaknesses are completely different. The choice of your first companion also has some effect on the first hours of the game. The Pokémon in the starter areas have different types, and the first Gym Leader have also settled on a Pokémon type. However, in this article we would like to introduce you to the starters in more detail and possibly help you with your choice.
The water duck: Kwaks, Fuentente and Bailonda
The starter Pokémon Kwaks belongs to the Water type. Its stats are pretty balanced compared to the other two starters and it has the best physical attack value. At level 16, Kwaks evolves into Fuentente. Once it reaches level 36, it then evolves into Bailonda. In the last developmental form, it then receives the type fight in addition to water. Especially Pokémon of the type “Normal” are then at a disadvantage in battle.

Fire Lizard/Reptile: Croc, Lokroko and Skelokrok
The starter Pokémon Crocus belongs to the type Fire. In terms of its stats, the defense and Sp. attack value stands out in particular. The initiative is the lowest compared to the other starters. At level 16, Crocus evolves into Lokroko. Once it reaches level 36, it evolves into Skelokrok, which looks like a crocodile. In the last form of development, it receives the typeGhost” in addition to fire. This means that attacks of the type “Fight” or “Normal” can no longer damage it.

The starter Pokémon Felori belongs to the type Plant. Its physical attacks do a lot of damage and it has the best initiative value. At level 16, Felori evolves into Feliospa. Once it reaches level 36, it evolves into Maskagato. In the last developmental form, it then receives the typeDark” in addition to Plant. Attacks of theGhost” type will then have no effect.
