Update (Patch 1.0 – Oktober 2025): This guide has been reviewed and updated with current keycard locations, access requirements and bunker layouts. All information verified through community testing and official patch notes.
The horror survival game Sons of the Forest offers you an open game world with many locations and dungeons. While exploring the island, you’ll have to contend with cannibals and mutants and ensure your survival with food and drink.
Beyond the daily fight for survival, developer Endnight Games has built a hidden story into the game. To progress through it, you’ll need to collect three keycards that unlock restricted bunkers across the island. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find each one — updated for the latest version.

During your playthrough of Sons of the Forest, you’ll explore multiple bunkers scattered across the island. Each keycard is found inside one of them — but to reach them, you’ll first need specific tools such as the shovel and the rebreather. Below you’ll find the most recent map with all keycard locations confirmed for Patch 1.0.
Maintenance Keycard – Found in the underground Maintenance A Bunker. You’ll need the shovel to dig open the hatch. Inside, follow the main corridor and enter the first room on the right. The card lies on a table beside a 3D printer. This card unlocks the VIP and Guest bunkers later.
VIP Keycard – Requires the Maintenance Keycard. Enter the Food & Dining bunker, located west of the mountain range. Use the card at the first locked door to reach a staff area. The VIP Keycard lies on a desk in the employee lounge. This card grants access to the Guest Bunker and some late-game story doors.
Guest Keycard – Found in the Entertainment bunker near the north-west beaches. You’ll need the VIP card to access it. Inside, head past the 3D printer room and climb the stairs to the bar. The Guest Keycard is on a table decorated with corpses — impossible to miss. This final card unlocks the nightclub and key story areas.
All three access cards are required to complete the main story of Sons of the Forest. Make sure to bring food, armor and weapons before entering any bunker — mutants and cannibals often guard the deeper areas. Running past them is possible, but fighting your way through will reward you with valuable materials.
Tip: For better orientation, open your GPS Tracker after each card pick-up. The map automatically updates green POI markers for bunkers you’ve visited, helping you plan your next route.
