In The Blood of Dawnwalker, there are seven endings in total. Which one you get mainly depends on how you resolve the conflict with Brencis. You can attack him yourself, ally with Lacra or Crake, strike a deal with him—or simply leave Vale Sangora to its fate.
You don’t have to start a completely new game each time to see multiple endings. With well-placed manual saves, you can try out different choices and then return to an earlier point. Two secret endings work differently, though, and need a bit of preparation.
Spoiler warning: This guide reveals all the endings and major decisions in the main story.

How to See Multiple Endings with One Save
If you want to try out as many endings as possible, make sure back in the prologue to give Esme the right medicine in time. That way, Coen’s mother survives and can show up later in the epilogue. As you progress further, also defeat the three vassals Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe. For the endings with Lacra and Crake, you’ll also need to play their personal questlines far enough.
It helps to think of your save strategy in two separate steps, since the seven endings don’t all sit at the same point in the game.
The Turncoat, The Folk Hero, The Patricide, The Knyazmaker, and Time Runs Out are all decided during the game’s final quest. Create a manual save right before you commit to that finale, and don’t overwrite it. As long as Lacra’s and Crake’s questlines are already prepared far enough beforehand, you can play through one of these endings, reload that save, and pick a different path—without starting a new playthrough.
A Hero They Deserve and Together Forever work differently: both are triggered at their own separate locations, away from the normal finale, and can even be reached early in the game. Make dedicated manual saves before attempting either one, so you can return to your normal playthrough afterward.
The Four Regular Endings with Brencis
The Turncoat: Make a Deal with Brencis
For The Turncoat, Coen turns against his allies and negotiates his family’s freedom with Brencis. First, defeat Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe. That gets you to the maximum Infamy level. Then wait until the next day so the corresponding Edict triggers. After that, you’ll get a message from Brencis and the quest A Deal with the Devil.
You mustn’t attack Brencis at the meeting. Make it clear that you want your family back, and accept his deal. In exchange, Brencis demands that Coen give up the Manumits’ hideout. For that, you’ll need access to the hideout: follow Crake’s questline far enough, then return there and mark the entrance for Brencis.
Brencis does hold up his end of the bargain, but the Manumits pay a heavy price for it. His regime doesn’t fall until later, while several important characters meet a grim fate. On the plus side, the plague doesn’t return to Vale Sangora in this ending.

The Folk Hero: Defeat Brencis Yourself
If you want to defeat Brencis without Lacra or Crake, that path leads to The Folk Hero. One option is to defeat Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe and then wait for Brencis’s message. Once A Deal with the Devil starts, decline his offer and choose to fight instead.
You can also infiltrate Griefberg Castle on your own. At night, Coen’s vampire abilities help you do this. Another option is a side entrance to the castle. Once Brencis is defeated, Vale Sangora becomes independent, and the Manumits help protect the valley afterward. The victory doesn’t solve every problem, though: among other things, the plague returns.
The Patricide: Defeat Brencis Together with Lacra
For The Patricide, you need to follow Lacra’s story. Her questline eventually leads to Midnight Reckoning and, with it, its own route into Griefberg Castle. Together with Lacra, you make your way through the ancient ruins beneath the castle and destroy Brencis’s ritual there. That’s not without consequences: the dead rise again, parts of the castle are wrecked, and numerous people are put in danger.

Brencis eventually tries to get Coen to betray Lacra. For this ending, you need to refuse his offer and fight against him together with Lacra. Vale Sangora becomes independent afterward, at least at first. The price for the attack is high, though, since the events at Griefberg Castle claim numerous victims.
If Lacra matters to you, complete her optional quest The Night of Horrors beforehand as well, and eat the mandrake together with her. That choice can be decisive for her fate during the finale.
The Knyazmaker: Defeat Brencis with Crake
For The Knyazmaker, you need to join the Manumits and follow Crake’s questline. Over the course of this story, you support Catalin Dragosti, who wants to return to Vale Sangora with his army. To do this, you attack the Eastridge outpost and give Catalin’s troops access to the valley. After that, you march together against Griefberg Castle.
In the throne room, Brencis tries to kill Catalin. Depending on your choice, Crake can either die there or survive alongside Catalin. After that, you need to defeat Brencis. This ending is one of the darker outcomes: once he’s back, Catalin deals brutally with his enemies and has parts of Svartrau burned down. If Crake survives, he also takes part in the crackdown on the Uriashi under Catalin’s rule.

The Two Secret Endings in The Blood of Dawnwalker
You can reach two endings without ever playing the regular finale against Brencis. Both are easy to miss and work differently from the four routes through Griefberg Castle.
A Hero They Deserve: Leave Vale Sangora
In A Hero They Deserve, Coen decides to leave Vale Sangora. He leaves his family and the valley’s residents to their fate as a result. For this route, you need a sufficiently large range for Shadowstep. To get that, you need to develop Coen’s vampire abilities accordingly. Then head to the northwest of the Briar Sloughs, to the exit from the valley.
A broken bridge blocks your way there. Cross the gap using your vampire abilities and follow the road out of Vale Sangora. At the end, you can choose to leave the valley for good. Confirm the decision, and Coen’s story ends right there. There’s no normal epilogue in Laslea for this outcome. Make sure to create a manual save beforehand if you still want to keep playing normally afterward.

Together Forever: Stay in the Dream World
You trigger Together Forever during Home Sweet Home. At the Silts Tower, Coen gets caught in a dream loop where he keeps reliving the events surrounding his family. Normally, you can leave this memory through a well. For the secret ending, you must not do that.
- Start Home Sweet Home at the Silts Tower.
- Play through the dream loop completely.
- Don’t use the well that lets you leave the memory.
- Run through the loop a total of four times.
- On the fifth run, talk to Coen’s family and choose to stay with them.
Coen accepts the illusion this way and stays with his family permanently. That gets you Together Forever. If you want to complete Home Sweet Home normally afterward, load an earlier save and use the well to leave the dream loop.
What Happens When the 30 Days Run Out?
If you let the entire deadline pass, you get Time Runs Out. Once the available time has run out, a cutscene plays. Coen’s family is sacrificed at Griefberg Castle, and his actual goal has failed as a result.
That doesn’t mean, however, that your save file is over after this point. You can keep exploring Vale Sangora and continue the story. The family’s death does affect the later epilogue, though.
Can You Kill the Final Boss Brencis Back in the Prologue?
Yes. Brencis can be defeated very early in the game. To do this, you first need to win his initial fight and then also defeat Brencis, Grotesque Ascendant. This is an enormous challenge even on a low difficulty setting. If you manage it anyway, you can end the story extremely early.
The resulting conclusion is essentially the same as the path where Coen defeats Brencis without an ally, but it’s much shorter because of all the story you skip. We wouldn’t recommend this for your first playthrough: you’d skip most of the quests, characters, and decisions that later shape the epilogue.

Does Beating Brencis in the Prologue Count as an Ending?
No, not as a separate one. Defeating Brencis and then Brencis, Grotesque Ascendant during the prologue doesn’t unlock an eighth ending of its own. It simply lets you reach The Folk Hero extremely early, with a much shorter epilogue since you skip almost the entire main story. The game’s seven tracked endings remain exactly the ones listed at the top of this guide.

What Changes in the Epilogue?
The Blood of Dawnwalker’s epilogue doesn’t just take your chosen ending into account. The stories of Anca, Lacra, Crake, and Father Florin can also turn out differently depending on your choices. The same goes for Esme: she can only show up if she survived the prologue. If the 30-day deadline ran out beforehand, Coen’s family is absent accordingly.
Several side quests leave their mark too, including the events at St. Tyna’s Convent as well as decisions involving other residents and groups of Vale Sangora. Two players can therefore pick the same main ending and still see a partly different epilogue. That said, you don’t need to resolve these side decisions perfectly to get all seven endings. They mainly determine what became of individual characters and places after the finale.
Which Is the Best Ending?
There’s no truly perfect ending. If you’re looking for a comparatively positive outcome, The Folk Hero is one of the better options. Coen defeats Brencis without handing the valley over to Catalin or betraying his allies for a deal. Vale Sangora becomes independent, and the Manumits help protect the valley afterward. On the downside, the plague does return.
The Knyazmaker turns out much darker, since Catalin’s rule quickly shows its brutal side. The Turncoat, on the other hand, protects Coen’s family, but demands betraying the Manumits in return. Which ending is best for you mainly comes down to which people and groups you want to protect in the end.
