The Witcher: Blood Origin – Netflix series gives insight into the origins of the fantasy world

Out of the blue, The Witcher Netflix series showrunner announced The Witcher: Blood Origin prequel series last year, delighting fans of the fantasy universe. Side by side with rookie director Declan de Barra, fans will be treated to the origin story of the world. This year, the time has finally come and the series will launch on Netflix in December 2022.

The Witcher: Blood Origin – The prequel to The Witcher

As early as December 25, 2022, fans of Netflix’s fantasy series The Witcher can look forward to further insights into the fantastic world of the Witcher. In the summer of 2021, filming began on The Witcher prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin. Also serving as showrunner is Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who secured the support of producer Declan de Barra.

The plot of the prequel takes place a good 1200 years before the adventures of the well-known protagonist Geralt of Riva and tells the story of the origin of the well-known fantasy world. The spin-off revolves around the creation of the known future world along with humans, elves, dwarves, monsters and other creatures. The focus here will be the people of the elves. After a recasting of the main role of the elite warrior elf Éile, which was to be held by British actress Jodie Turner-Smith, filming ended this year.

Actor Laurence O’Fuarain slips into the other leading role of the warrior elf Fjall. Series fans will probably already know him from series like Game of Thrones or Vikings. Due to the plot year, it has also already been confirmed that none of the well-known actors from The Witcher series will make an appearance in the prequel. However, fans of The Witcher series can look forward to a new season as early as 2022.
