Valheim: How to tame wild boars

Taming wild boars in Valheim is basically as simple as can be. Find a pig in the wild and throw food from your inventory at its feet. It then begins to eat this delicacy with relish and the friendship value increases a little. Just repeat this until the value reaches the maximum and the boar has been successfully tamed. Among the favorite foods of grunting four-legged friends are berries, mushrooms or carrots.

Valheim: Wild boars are super handy pets.

Since the animals roam around the open game world of Viking Survival, this method of taming can be additionally optimized. Place a workbench near the pig and erect structures like a fence in a small radius around the animal. For this purpose, the simple wooden fence, for which you need only 1x wood. This prevents it from moving in a larger radius and makes it more quickly aware of the placed food on the Ground. You can also just build a fence circle, lure the boar there, and close the circle with more fences once it’s inside.

Valheim: How to breed wild boars

To raise a small wild boar cub in Valheim, you must house at least two pigs in a smaller radius (enclosure). You can not determine the sex of the animals, this is not fixed in the game. Now you feed your tamed friends with berries, carrots or mushrooms and after some time little hearts appear above them. This symbol indicates that the animals are feeling well and are slowly becoming ready to mate. After a certain waiting time, a baby boar then appears in the enclosure.

This animal cub then grows into a full-grown wild boar. Breeding of the animals can be significantly accelerated by keeping several animals in a smaller area. Keep in mind when raising boars in Valheim that you should protect them from hostile NPCs.

Your own wild boar breeding ensures meat and leather scraps supply.

How to tame and breed wolves in Valheim

To tame and breed wolves in Valheim, you need to make some preparations. Usually wolves appear in the snow biome of the map. Since you will suffer constant damage from the cold in this biome, you should get the wolf armor at best. For this, the third boss in Valheim must be defeated. However, besides the armor, you can also seek shelter at bonfires or brew the potion “Mead with Frost Resistance”.

Now, to tame a wolf, you need to feed it with raw meat. The quadruped then begins to eat the meat and the friendship value increases a little. Repeat this until the value reaches the maximum and the wolf has been successfully tamed.

Wolves in Valheim can be dangerous enemies or loyal companions.

Unlike the boars in the game, you can pet wolves and take qusai with you on your travels like a faithful dog. If you now keep at least two or more wolves in an enclosure and feed them, after some time there will be offspring in the form of wolf cubs. By breeding wolves, your wolf pelt supply is assured.

How to tame and breed chickens in Valheim

Right away: chickens cannot be found easily in the open game world of valheim. To be able to breed chickens, you need to visit the traveling merchant Haldor. From him you can buy an egg for 1,500 gold. Now build an enclosure (preferably covered) and place a campfire there to incubate the egg. Now place the egg next to the campfire to hatch it.

Aim at the egg and wait until its displayed status changes from “cold” to “warm”. After a certain waiting period, a chick hatches from the egg and grows into a chicken or a hen. This is already tamed and henceforth lays more eggs, which can be warmed and hatched on a fire. When raising chickens, make sure they can’t run into the fire, or they might get a little too hot and you’ll end up with a rotisserie chicken unintentionally.

Valheim: Coming up with the chicken.

You can feed your chicken with all kinds of seeds. With your chicken farm, you will increase your supply of eggs, feathers and chicken meat over time.

Your reliable mount: How to tame and breed Loxe in Valheim

When the Viking survival game Valheim was expanded with the level biome through the “Hearth & Home” update, players were given their own mount for the first time in the form of the Lox. These are frugal large quadrupeds with a decent coat and can dish out a lot in battle.

To tame a wild lox, you need an enclosure made of earth or stone and their favorite foods. These are either moltberries (cloudberries), flax or barley (barley). As with the other animals in Valheim, you can now breed your lox and get lox babies.

A lox is a strong opponent, but can also be a loyal mount.

To ride a Lox now, you need a saddle (Lox saddle). To craft this you need 10x Leather Scraps, 15x Black Metal and 20x Linen Threads and you can craft it at the workbench. Now you have to put the saddle into your hotkeys and you can put it on your tamed lox with a click. Now press the “Use” button to swing yourself into the saddle of the powerful animal.
