Harry Potter fans had to wait for what felt like ions years for an owl to knock on their window one day and send a letter inviting them to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This year, the time had finally come and publisher Warner Bros. Games released the open-world role-playing game Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software.
An open game world, contemporary graphics and fantastic soundtrack invite you to discover the magical world. In the Harry Potter novels and films, romance and relationships also played an increasingly important role as students got older. How this was implemented in the video game, you will learn in this article.

Are there romances & relationships in Hogwarts Legacy?
The fire can not only be lit with a magic wand, but can also blaze in your heart. In Hogwarts Legacy you’ll create your wizard or sorcerer in the character editor at the beginning of the game. During the course of the game you’ll meet new people and make friends with them if necessary. You can get to know some of them in our character overview.
But what about love or a fiery romance in Hogwarts Legacy? The answer to this is quite sobering for many. In the video game, you take on the role of a 15-year-old teenager, and a love affair wouldn’t be that far-fetched at that age, even if it didn’t turn into a harmonious long-term relationship.
However, game designer Kelly Murphy and narrative lead Moira Squier spoke to our colleagues at GamePro about the release. According to the company’s own statement, it made a conscious decision not to do so. Friendships were integrated into the fantasy role-playing game, but romances or relationships were not woven into the plot of Hogwarts Legacy. One merely wanted to “not touch” the subject. But who knows, possibly there will be a sequel to the video game, we play a slightly older character and this issue will also be addressed then.
