With the horror-survival game Sons of the Forest, developer Endnight Games continues its indie game series. The game features an open game world, an extensive building system, lots of resources and a crafting system. Apart from the survival factor, you’ll be able to follow an exciting storyline over the course of the game and experience one of several endings at the end.
In this post, we’ll introduce you to the two endings and explain what you also need to do to reach the secret ending.

These are the three endings of the Sons of the Forest Story
The focus of the survival game Sons of the Forest is on exploring the game world, building your own dwelling and surviving as a whole. However, developer Endnight Games has also given the indie game its own story. You have to collect them while exploring the world and finding certain items or equipment.
Already at the beginning of the game, Kelvin, an AI companion, is at your side, but he is a bit off track after the helicopter crash. Nevertheless, he does his best when gathering resources or building structures. However, during your adventure, he can also die, affecting the ending of Sons of the Forest. If it has come to the extreme and Kelvin has died, he can only be brought back to life via a detour.
Below we list the two regular endings of the Sons of the Forest story:
- Stay on the island: Actually, after the unwanted stranding on the horror island, the main goal should be to leave it again. However, at the end of the game you can also choose to stay on the island. This unlocks the Fighting Demons achievement.
- Leave the island: Since the beginning of the game, you’ve been doing everything to escape from the island in Sons of the Forest. At the end of the game, after all the hardships, you even reach your destination and you can escape by helicopter. As a reward for successfully completing the story, you will receive the “Fought Demons” achievement.
However, in addition to these two regular endings, there is another third ending. During your stay on the island you will get to know Virginia. You can make friends with her and she will be another AI companion for you. Unlike companion Kelvin, she can be supplied with firearms by you and will stand by your side in the fight against the cannibals and mutants.
The secret story ending of Sons of the Forest centers on the three-legged and three-armed Virginia. To achieve this, you need to befriend her and bring the friendship score to 100 percent. Of course, she also can’t die and must be by your side until the story ends. However, should it come to that, you can also revive them.
In addition, the following conditions must be met:
- Find Virginia’s dress and give it to her.
- Build her a shelter with a place to sleep.
- Give her a gun as well as a GPS tracker.
- Last but not least, take care of her survival, if she is knocked down, help her up. If you are kidnapped by the cannibals, free them from captivity.
Once this is done you can decide at the end that she will leave the island with you and Kelvin in the helicopter. This secret ending will get you the achievement “Chivalry Is Not Dead”.
