Overview of Valheim bosses and their loot

The survival game Valheim invites you to explore the open game world and live an existence as a real Viking. On your journey you’ll not only encounter wild animals or the most diverse enemies, but you’ll also have to prove yourself in battle against strong bosses. However, these strong enemies don’t just walk around in the world, but have to be summoned at special locations with different items. In this guide, we will introduce you to all the bosses, the items to summon and their yield.

The first boss in Valheim: Eikthyr & Pickaxe

Items needed for the summoning: 2x Deer Trophies

Conjuration:

With the two stag trophies in your luggage, you head to an Eikthyr altar. You can find several of them in the grassland biome, they can be recognized by a marker on the map. The altar is a larger round stone with a red seal in the center. Place the stag trophies in one of the quick slots (1 to 8), stand in front of the stone altar and sacrifice the trophies via key command. Now the big boss deer Eikthyr appears and can be killed by you.

Boss Battle: Eikthyr attacks with three different attacks: In melee, he charges his antlers electrically and launches an assault attack. The second attack is an Area of Effect attack, where it hurls lightning at you, and the third attack is also a lightning attack, which the stag hurls straight ahead.

Loot: Eikthyr’s Guardian Trophy, which, when activated at the main altar, gives you his power (Jump Stamina Usage: -60%; Race Stamina Usage: -60%). In addition, you get a hard antler, with which you can make the antler pickaxe.

Eikthyr is the first and also the weakest boss in Valheim.

The second boss in Valheim: The Elder & Swampy Key

Items needed for the summoning: 3x Ancient Seeds

Conjuration:

The Altar of the Ancient One appears randomly generated on the map of Valheim. To find it faster it is recommended to explore some burial chambers in the Black Forest biome and with some luck find a red glowing stone. This will mark the location of the Ancient One on the map when activated.

To summon the Ancient One, you need 3x Ancient Seeds. To get these you can slay the large gray dwarves (Gray Dwarf Summoner; Gray Dwarf Shaman), destroy the purple glowing gray dwarf nests in the Black Forest, or find them in the chests of the burial chambers in the forest.

Boss fight: In ranged combat, the Elder attacks you with tendrils, which are equipped with spikes. Its area-of-effect effect causes living vines to sprout from the Ground around you, which strike at you as soon as you are near them. In close combat, he uses a stomp attack, which has a wider area of effect.

Loot: With the Ancient Guardian Trophy you get his power (increased speed when cutting wood). You also get a Swampy Key, which you can use to open the crypts in the Swampy Biome.

The Ancient One in Valheim may also be a distant relative of the Ents from the Lord of the Rings universe.

The third boss in Valheim: Bonemass Rage & Divining Rod

Items needed for the summon: 10x Weathered Bones

Conjuration:

In the crypts of the marshland you will find, among other things, weathered bones. Collect a total of 10x bones and go to the summoning altar of the Bone Womb.

Boss Battle: The Bonemass attacks with the area damage Poisoning as soon as you are near it and attacks you with a melee attack. In addition, he makes smaller slime enemies appear at regular intervals, which support him in battle. So before the fight you should stock up on anti-toxins and healing items. In close combat, you can only damage the big blob with blunt weapons like the mace. In ranged combat, you can also attack him with arrows (preferably fire arrows) .

Loot: With the Bonemass Wraith Guardian Trophy you activate its power (increased resistance to physical damage). In addition, you get a divining rod, with which you can find hidden treasures in the Ground.

The Bonemass is a huge slime mountain with bones in its body.

The fourth boss in Valheim: Moder (Moder) & Dragon Tear

Items needed for the summoning: 3x dragon eggs

Conjuration:

To summon the Moder, you must carry three dragon eggs to the summoning altar. You can only wear one of these at a time. You will find the dragon eggs in the dragon nests in the mountain biome, though smaller dragons will get in your way.

Boss Battle: The Moder attacks you with a long-range frost attack or attacks you in melee with her sharp claws. You should be careful of their frost breath, because it can freeze you for a while and make you unable to fight.

Loot: With the Guardian Trophy of the Moder, you get her power (guaranteed tailwind when sailing a boat or ship). Furthermore, you will get a dragon tear, which you will need to make the crafting table.

Dragons, as mythical creatures, cannot be missing in Valheim, of course. The Moder would like to put you on ice in the game.

The fifth boss in Valheim: Yagluth & Yagluth Trophy

Items needed for summoning: 5x Goblin Totems

Conjuration:

To summon the goblin ruler Yagluth, you must sacrifice five goblin totems at his altar. Located in the Plains Biome, it’s hard to miss and you’ll recognize it by the giant stone hand sticking out of the Ground.

Boss fight: Yagluth attacks you with three different and devastating attacks. When he stretches his hand into the sky, he rains meteors down on you. With his second attack, he spits a cloud of fire at you, and with his third attack, he stretches his hand into the sky and strikes the Ground with it, creating a devastating blast wave.

Loot: With the Guardian Trophy of Yagluth, you get his power (fire resistance) when activated at the altar.

Yagluth is the strongest boss in Valheim and heats you up (literally).
