Baldur’s Gate 3: Where to find the fish people

In the first act of Baldur’s Gate 3, you can visit the Underrealm and become a god there. Yes, you read that right. The fish people worship a god of their own choosing. To get to them, you have to find one of the paths into their realm. You can choose between the spider cave, the goblin camp (Minsthara’s chambers) or Waukeen’s Rest (cross the Zhentirem camp).

The quickest way to the fish people is past the beach, where you will also find the Duergar camp. From there, make your way to the fish people’s cave, the entrance to which is marked on the map below.

Location of the fish people & god “Boooal”

Inside, walk to the place called “rotten cave” and go along the left path. There you will now find the fish people and must behave correctly in order to become their god and determine their fate.

Baldur’s Gate 3: How the fish people appoint you as the new god

The fish people already worship a god who goes by the name of “Boooal”. As soon as you appear there, he will also appear. The supposed god is a red cap, which has become more powerful through the worship of the fish people.

Depending on how you answer in the dialog, you can either pay homage to Boooal and receive a buff, or you can convince the Kuo-Toa that he is not a real god and become one yourself.

The fish people called Kuo-Toa pay homage to their self-proclaimed god.

Kill Boooal and become a god: To take his position, you must convince the Kuo-Toa that Boooal is not a true god. To do this, you have to choose the first answer for the first two dialog options and the third answer (“I’ll just kill you and take her.”) for the third option.

You can then finish him off and the fish people appoint you as their new god. This will not give you a buff. By the way, if you don’t want to be appointed a god yourself, you can also suggest that they choose someone else.

Pay homage to Boooal and make a sacrifice: If you choose the option to pay homage to Boooal, you should offer a sacrifice and kill one of your companions. Its death remains permanent and cannot be reversed. As a reward, you will receive the “Boooal’s Consecration” buff, which increases the damage of bleeding creatures.

Pay homage to Boooal and kill for him: You can also receive the “Boooal’s Consecration” buff without sacrificing one of your companions. To do this, you must suggest killing in his name. He will then present you with a sickle that has the effect.
