One of the playable characters in the fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 is the High Elf rogue Astarion, who specializes in sneaking and ambush attacks. In Act 3 of the fantasy role-playing game, you have the opportunity to give him a decent power-up by ascending to a vampire ascendant.

Baldur’s Gate 3: How to make Astarion a vampire ascendant

The fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 offers you a large game world with a wide variety of characters and missions. Your decisions actively influence the plot or certain characters as the game progresses. This is also the case with potential team member and playable character Astarion. To level him up and make him more powerful, you have to go with him to Cazador’s estate and defeat him and his allies.

Astarion realizes for himself how he can become stronger and must perform a ritual to do so. Now do his bidding and perform the ritual which, if successful, will make him ascend to a vampire ascendant.

Rise of Astarion: what’s changing for the High Elf

Astarion’s successful ritual not only makes him stronger, but also more arrogant. The other team members learn about the ritual in which, among other things, thousands of innocent creatures have to die. These are children of Gur. Of course, they won’t like this fact.

The ritual allows Astarion to ascend and strengthens him, but you can also prevent it.

Regardless of the negative effects on his behavior or the opinions of the other team members, Astarion receives a power-up. Unarmed attacks now cause additional necrotic damage to enemies. It can now also take on a gas form, making it very good at evading enemy attacks.

How to prevent Astarion from ascending to the vampire ascendant

If you don’t like the consequences of Astarion’s ascension to vampire ascendant, you can also prevent this. To keep him on the team as an ally, you must convince him before performing the ritual that it would not be good for him. If you successfully convince him of this, the ritual is not performed and he remains a team member.

However, it is important that you actively convince him of this. If you simply do not help him with the ritual or break it off during the performance, he will turn away from you and attack you. You will lose Astarion as a team member.
