Baldur’s Gate 3: Tips for the end (endgame) and the final boss fight

© Larian Studios

If you have already played several role-playing games, you will have noticed that you have more decision-making options in some video games. Your actions and possible responses to the NPCs influence the rest of the story and can take different turns. Developer Larian Studios has implemented this freedom of choice particularly extensively in the fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3.

This also applies to the final boss in Baldur’s Gate 3, where you have to face windy tentacles, mind flayer mages and other enemies in an action-packed battle. The main goal at the end is the Netherbrain. In addition to defeating all the enemies, there are other ways to win in the end. In our guide, we present the options in the game’s final battle.

Baldur’s Gate 3: You have these different approaches to the final boss!

When you move around the world of Baldur’s Gate 3, you decide everything with a dice roll or different answer options. These can make the difference between life and death for individuals or influence your further actions. The final battle in the game can also be decided differently in your favor in addition to the brachial battle.

Sacrifice your team member Gale

Companion Gale already carries the Netherstone in his chest at the beginning of the story. The goddess of magic placed the stone in his body so that if it exploded, it would take the Netherbrain with it to its death. The good thing about this approach is that you switch off the Netherbrain. Unfortunately, Gale has to give his life for it.

Gale carries the Netherstone in his body and becomes very important in the finale.

Side with the Emperor or Orpheus

In the endgame of Baldur’s Gate 3, you can take the side of strong opponents. If you choose Orpheus, the Emperor will not like it and will face you in battle. However, if you stand by the Emperor, he will put an end to Orpheus and protect you from the Netherbrain’s influence.

Use summoned allies against the Mind Flayer

In the final battle of the game, you will have to deal with a variety of opponents. Before you make your way to the final boss, you have the opportunity to ask your allies for help. This also includes the summoning of allied units. Even if they don’t have much fighting power, they provide a good distraction. This is particularly important in the battle with the Emperor and the Mind Flayers.

The Emperor and his Mind Flayers cause you major problems, especially in the endgame.

What is invisible cannot be attacked

If one of your team members is to perform an action in the final battle, they will be attacked by the enemies and will be interrupted during their action. A good way to prevent this is to simply make the person invisible. You can have other allies cast an invisibility spell or use invisibility potions. When performing the invisible person’s action, make sure that he or she is not found by the enemies.

Bypass the whole battle with invisibility

You can go one step further and make your entire group invisible. This allows you to avoid the fights before the last boss. The cutscene with the other enemies still starts, but as you are further away, they can no longer attack you.

Explosives against the Netherbrain

A good way to win the final boss fight quickly is to use explosives. For example, you can place wine barrels next to your opponent and set them on fire, or blow up explosives such as fireworks. This causes greater damage to normal enemies and also to the strongest enemies.

The “Orb of Invulnerability” spell

One of the most useful spells is the orb of invulnerability. This magic sphere protects the team member for three rounds. If, as described above, you have also summoned or called in other allies to distract your opponents, the battle will be less difficult overall. Before you cast this spell, however, you should already have reached the Crown of Karsus.

The battle with the red dragon

At the end of the fantasy role-playing game, you will have to deal with a powerful red dragon. You can use the “Hold Monster” ability to make the fight against the winged fiend easier. When you approach the dragon, you should do so by jumping or, even better, teleporting. Otherwise you will have to take on more tentacles.

In the final battle, a red dragon stands in your way.
