Baldur’s Gate 3: How to solve the quest “Stop the printing press”

In the third act of Baldur’s Gate 3, you stumble across the quest “Stop the printing press”. You find out that the journalist Estra Stir wants to print a negative article about you in the Baldur’s Mouth Gazette newspaper and you should prevent this. To do this, however, you have to sneak into the premises where the printing press is located and exchange the print (the headline) for a harmless one.

The journalist Estra Stir wants to publish a bad headline about you in the newspaper “Baldur’s Mouth Gazette”.

Go to the Baldur’s Mouth quest location in the Lower Town and sneak into the cellar. We recommend that you break open the back door with a lock pick. The door to the cellar is also locked. Either pick the lock on the door or steal the key from Ettvard Needle’s pocket in advance. In addition to the door, you can also use the elevator next to the building by pressing the lever on the left-hand side.

Once down there, you will encounter steel guards blocking the way to the printing press. The simplest method would be to use an invisibility spell or potion to sneak past the guards unnoticed. Now search the rooms unseen for another printing plate with which you can change the headline of the printing press. Now swap it with the one from the press and leave the editorial office basement unseen.

You can steal Ettvard Needle’s key to get into the basement of the editorial office more easily.

Once you have successfully completed the side quest, there will be no more articles in the newspaper that will put you in a bad light.

This is what happens if you don’t prevent the negative article about you

If you don’t follow the side quest with the printing press or prevent the negative headline about you, the news will appear in the newspaper called Baldur’s Mouth Gazette. As a result, some of the townspeople don’t think well of you. Some retailers will also charge you higher prices for their goods.

When you arrive at the printing press, you can replace the print head and with it the negative headline about you.
